This is a Gonset Communicator III (2m version). It belonged to the W8ACW Radio Club and then was sold. A few years back one of the club members found it at a hamest and bought it. At the Club auction in November of 2008, I bought it and after slowly bringing it up on the variac and finding some crystals, I am proud to say that it is back on the air. I made my first contact with it on 12/13/2008 at 23:30 utc to KB8ZB on 146.430 mode AM. As the old sayong goes "Not FM, not XM but AM" well maybe not exaclty that way but it is neet to get that old rig going. |

This is a soundcard interface with complete isolation that I built. It was built out of old parts from electronics that were found in dumpsters. No I don't dumpster dive but I know people who do so I get first dibs on the electronics and then it goes to recycling. Anyway this fits in an altoids tin and works great for doing digital modes from portable locations. The jumpers at the header in the top right are for later adding a couple of potentiometers for the receive ant transmit signals so that I do not overdrive anything. I will eventually post a schematic when I get it drawn up. |

This is the upstairs station, well at least the Icom is. I was testing out a slinky antenna to see how it would work with my glowbug and it did fairly well. |
